NHS Northgate Internal Signs

We were approached by one of our clients Medical Architecture to support them on a project with a new secure hospital that was being built in Northeast England for a NHS Trust. We were put in contact with the Trust and an artist working on the project called Dan Savage. Dan works with many Trusts on buildings used by the public in the UK and incorporates art which helps to enhance the visual appearance and the feel good factor, thus taking away that fear that some people have when visiting these buildings.

The artwork which followed a theme of Northumberland was to be fitted onto walls, windows and doors and to be manufactured to a very high standard and had to be secure, safe and as they say “Bombproof” due to the type of building and the patients using it. Working with Dan and the Trust we have designed and manufactured over 100 different signs, pictures and graphics which are now greatly improving the look of the wards and corridors, giving colour and pictures, helping patients cope better with the surrounding they live in.

‘I have been working closely with One Sign and Digital for the last 12 months to develop an integrated art and signage strategy for a new NHS medium secure mental health unit in Morpeth. From the outset, Michael has been hands on, helpful, and reliable. From the production of high quality printed timber samples, to discussing methods and materials, to liaising with my client and contractor, every step of the process has been approached in a friendly and positive manner. I am looking forward to seeing the finished scheme and hope to work with One Sign again in the future’
